WINX is the perfect wingsuit canopy.
Every wingsuit pilot wants a canopy that delivers consistent, easy, on-heading openings while still being fun to fly and providing great landings. The WINX delivers.
High Enjoyment – Low Stress
The WINX is designed for wingsuit and tracking suit skydivers — offering stress-free openings, fun flight, and powerful landings.
The WINX is purpose-built for wingsuit skydivers who demand reliable, on-heading openings but also enjoy aggressive, high-performance canopy flight. It's fun, forgiving, and fast — combining the docile opening behavior of a 7-cell with the flight characteristics of a 9-cell.
Whether you're a novice looking for confidence under canopy or an experienced swooper seeking more performance in a wingsuit-compatible canopy, the WINX has you covered.
With the use of the "free fly" slider you can use the WINX in a normal skydive too.
Why Jump the WINX?
- Great openings – designed for stress-free, soft, and consistent deployments
- Powerful flare – controlled landings with lots of lift at the bottom end
- Any experience level – stable and easy to fly when lightly loaded; lively and responsive at higher wing loadings
- High glide performance – makes it back from a bad spot with ease
- Smooth front riser input – low pressure, long recovery arc, ideal for swooping
- Go bigger – use a slightly larger wing with the hybrid/light option in your existing container
Performance-Driven Design
- 7-cell semi-elliptical layout – predictable openings with 9-cell-like performance in flight
- 3D airfoil shaping – advanced CAD-based shaping preserves airfoil integrity across the wingspan
- Responsive toggle input – flies like a smaller elliptical while remaining rock-solid in straight flight
- Low drag profile – thinner design results in reduced pack volume
- Flare that makes you smile – a long, powerful flare window, even at lighter wing loadings
Proven Design
The WINX is a 7-cell zero-P semi-elliptical canopy, built with knowledge and experience gained from earlier products: like Alpha, Cobalt, Radical etc (9-cell elliptical) and the Dragon (a tapered 7-cell). The result is a canopy with stress-free 7-cell openings that flies like a 9-cell elliptical.
Fun to Fly
The WINX is extremely fun to fly at high wing loadings, being very responsive to toggle input while remaining rock-stable in straight flight and turns. At light to moderate wing loadings, it's a great transitional canopy for novice to intermediate skydivers.
Its excellent glide performance will bring you home even from a poor spot, and plenty of lift during the flare enables easy, consistent landings from a straight-in approach.
If you like to swoop, the WINX will happily oblige. With low front riser pressure, a moderate recovery arc, and a long, powerful flare, it's guaranteed to make you smile.
Designed with Precision
The WINX was designed using specialized CAD software to analyze low-speed airfoils and wings. Advanced airfoil shaping techniques allow a 3D design to be translated into 2D canopy fabric panels, resulting in a parachute that maintains its designed airfoil shape across the entire wingspan during flight.

FAQ
Which Atair canopy is right for me?
We make four BASE canopy models and one skydiving canopy, each designed for different flying styles and experience levels:
- OSP2 — Our best all-round BASE canopy. Suitable for all experience levels and all jumping styles, slider-up and slider-down. Features MDV5 vents and SLAT technology as standard. If you're not sure where to start, start here.
- Vision — An advanced all-round canopy built on the OSP platform with improved forward speed, glide, and flare. Best for experienced BASE jumpers who want sporty handling without sacrificing BASE-level predictability.
- VisionWS — Our ultra-lightweight slider-up canopy, designed specifically for wingsuit pilots and trackers. Built from PN9 fabric with Spectra lines as standard. When pack volume and weight matter, this is the one.
- OSP1 — The classic. One of the most popular and dependable 7-cell BASE canopies ever made, proven over two decades of jumping worldwide.
- WinX — Our skydiving canopy (not for BASE). A 7-cell semi-elliptical design that delivers 9-cell performance, built primarily for wingsuit skydivers.
Not sure which one suits you? Drop us a line at andrej@ataircanopies.com — we're always happy to help you choose.
Which canopy is best for wingsuit BASE?
The VisionWS was purpose-built for wingsuit pilots and trackers. It's our lightest canopy, made from PN9 fabric with Spectra lines, and optimized exclusively for slider-up deployment. If you also jump slider-down, the OSP2 or Vision are better all-round choices — both perform excellently slider-up*.
*We recommend the use of a slow slider for terminal jumps.
I'm new to BASE jumping — which canopy should I start with?
We recommend the OSP2. Its MDV5 vent system gives you near-immediate canopy control after opening, and the SLAT system reduces stall speed so you have more time to correct heading during low-altitude jumps. That said, we always recommend consulting your BASE instructor or mentor before purchasing. And feel free to reach out to us directly if you'd like sizing or model advice.
What's the difference between the OSP2 and the Vision?
Both share the same foundational design and feature MDV5 vents, SLAT technology, and 3D-shaped ZP leading edges. The key difference is that the Vision is tuned for more experienced pilots — it delivers improved forward speed, a better glide ratio, and a more dynamic flare. Think of the OSP2 as the workhorse and the Vision as the sports car. Both are excellent, but the Vision rewards precision piloting.
What is MDV technology?
MDV (Mono Directional Valve) is our proprietary vent system. These are bottom-skin vents that open during deployment and deep-brake flight to allow air into the canopy, then close during normal flight so they don't disturb internal airflow. The benefits include faster canopy pressurization at opening, less altitude needed for full inflation, near-immediate toggle response after deployment, and an extended flight envelope before stall in deep brakes. The OSP2 and Vision come with MDV5 as standard.
What is SLAT technology?
SLAT is our leading-edge airfoil extension system — we were the first manufacturer to bring this to BASE canopies back in 2007. It creates a slot at the first 10% of the leading edge that redirects air over the upper canopy surface, speeding up airflow. This delays airflow separation, maintains lift at lower speeds and higher angles of attack, and reduces stall speed. In practical terms, SLAT gives you more time to correct heading issues with risers during low-altitude jumps and provides crisper toggle response.
What size canopy do I need?
Canopy size depends on your exit weight and desired wing loading. For BASE jumping, we generally recommend a wing loading between 0.66 and 0.82 lbs/sq ft. To calculate yours, divide your exit weight in pounds (body weight plus all gear) by the canopy's square footage (PIA). A wing loading around 0.68–0.78 is a solid starting point for most jumpers. If you'd like help choosing, just email us at andrej@ataircanopies.com.
Why are Atair canopy sizes different from other manufacturers?
We measure canopy area differently than the PIA (Parachute Industry Association) standard used by most other brands. An Atair "245" (PIA260) is not the same as a PD or SQRL 240. We measure span × chord of the bottom skin, which produces a smaller number. Here's a conversion chart:
Atair size 185 ~ 200PIA Equivalent
Atair size 205 ~ 220PIA Equivalent
Atair size 225 ~ 240PIA Equivalent
Atair size 235 ~ 250PIA Equivalent
Atair size 245 ~ 260PIA Equivalent
Atair size 255 ~ 270PIA Equivalent
Atair size 265 ~ 280PIA Equivalent
Atair size 275 ~ 290PIA Equivalent
Atair size 285 ~ 300PIA Equivalent
Atair size 305 ~ 320PIA Equivalent
If you're switching from another manufacturer's canopy, use this chart to find your equivalent Atair size, then fine-tune based on your wing loading preference.
How do I calculate my wing loading?
Wing loading = Exit Weight ÷ Canopy Size. Your exit weight is your body weight plus all gear — rig, helmet, clothing, camera, everything in pounds.
For example, an 82 kg (180 lb) jumper with 10 kg (22 lbs) of BASE gear — totaling 92 kg (203 lbs) — on an Atair 265 (PIA ~280 sq ft) has a wing loading of approximately 0.73 lbs/sq ft.
What sizes are available for each canopy?
Available Sizes
OSP2
165, 185, 205, 215, 225, 235, 245, 255, 265, 275, 285, 305, 315
Vision
185, 205, 225, 235, 245, 255, 265, 275, 285, 305
VisionWS
185, 205, 225, 235, 245, 255, 265, 275, 285, 305
WinX
105, 120, 135, 150, 170, 190, 210
We offer some intermediate sizes on the OSP2, Vision, and VisionWS because many pilots found themselves between two standard sizes.
Will my canopy fit in my container?
Pack volume depends on canopy size, fabric type, and line type. Lightweight PN9 BASE canopies pack approximately one size smaller compared to F-111.
The regular full ZP WINX will pack like any other skydiving 7 cell canopy, WINX Hybrid packs one size smaller and the WINX Lightweight will pack 2–3 sizes smaller than a regular ZP WINX. For BASE containers, consult your container manufacturer's sizing chart. When in doubt, get in touch with us or your container manufacturer and we'll figure it out together.
What's the difference between F-111 and PN9 fabric?
F-111 is our standard semi-permeable ripstop nylon. It gives you stable, docile openings, excellent durability, and a long lifespan. PN9 is a lightweight alternative — roughly 1 size smaller pack volume and around 15% lighter. PN9 is ideal when weight and bulk matter (alpine approaches, travel, wingsuit rigs), but it does have a shorter lifespan and slightly less abrasion resistance. We recommend F-111 for rough terrain landings and when durability is the priority.
What line types are available?
We offer three options: White Dacron (standard on most BASE canopies — dimensionally stable, elastic, absorbs opening forces well), Black Dacron (same performance, different color, available for an additional cost), and Spectra (lighter and thinner with less drag, for slider-up use only on BASE canopies; standard on the VisionWS). For BASE jumping, Dacron is generally preferred because its elasticity helps absorb the higher opening forces of slider down deployments.
What are soft links vs. rapid links?
Rapid links (hard links) are the standard metal connectors between your lines and risers — durable and easy to inspect. Soft links are textile connectors that save weight and reduce bulk, available as an upgrade. Both are reliable; it comes down to whether you prioritize weight savings or simplicity of inspection. Soft links are detachable without any tools in case of a tree landing.
What is the "Black Edition"?
The Black Edition is a cosmetic upgrade available on all canopies. All visible reinforcement tapes, thread, slider and side rib logo comes in black for a clean, all-dark look. It doesn't affect performance — it just looks great.
What slider options are available?
We offer large mesh (standard — fast deployment), fine/small mesh and slow slider (designed for slider-up terminal deployments). Each is available in white or black. You can also order an additional slider with your canopy, if you jump both terminal and subterminal.

How long will my canopy last?
Canopy lifespan depends on fabric type, jump frequency, packing habits, environmental exposure, and care. F-111 canopies generally last longer compared to lightweight canopies. Our use of ZP fabric on the leading edge extends usable lifespan by maintaining porosity where it matters most. Lines typically need replacement every 300–400 jumps, depending on type and conditions. Have your canopy regularly inspected by a qualified rigger.
How should I care for my canopy?
Store it in a dry, cool, well-ventilated place away from direct sunlight. Clean with fresh water only — never use bleach, solvents, or abrasive cleaners. Dry completely before packing or storing. Pack on clean, smooth surfaces, keep it away from sharp objects and excessive heat, and avoid dragging it across rough ground after landing.
When should I replace my lines?
Replace your lines when you notice visible wear or fraying, when openings become inconsistent, or when a line trim check shows the canopy is out of trim. Typical reline intervals for BASE canopies range from 300 to 400 jumps, but this varies. Consult your rigger for a line trim check if you suspect any degradation.
Can Atair reline or repair my canopy?
Contact us at andrej@ataircanopies.com to discuss reline and repair services. Replacement lines and sliders are also available through our Accessories Store. For routine repairs, a qualified local rigger can handle most work. Please never modify your canopy without consulting us first — unauthorized modifications can compromise safety.
How should I store my canopy long-term?
Keep it loosely packed in a breathable bag, in a cool, dry, dark space. Don't store it compressed for long periods. Before jumping a canopy that's been in storage, have it thoroughly inspected, ideally by a qualified rigger.
What experience level is required?
The OSP2 (and OSP1) are designed for all experience levels. The Vision (and Vision WS) is recommended for experienced BASE jumpers due to its more dynamic flight characteristics. The WINX is suitable for any skydiving experience level, but is optimized for wingsuit flying/deployments. Regardless of your experience, always consult with a qualified instructor or mentor before purchasing a new canopy — and feel free to ask us for guidance.
What should I do before jumping a new canopy for the first time?
Read the product manual thoroughly. Have a qualified rigger inspect the canopy and verify correct assembly, line routing, brake settings, and slider configuration. Familiarize yourself with the canopy's specific features (MDV vents, SLAT system, brake settings). For your first flights, jump in familiar, forgiving conditions with plenty of altitude and decision-making time. Practice controllability checks, stall behavior, and flare timing before committing to more demanding environments.
Should I downsize my canopy?
Downsizing should be based on your skill level, currency, and performance goals — not jump numbers alone. Before downsizing, honestly ask yourself: Can I consistently land my current canopy on target in varying conditions? Do I have strong heading control right after opening? Am I current and jumping regularly? Have I discussed this with a qualified coach or mentor? For BASE canopies, the recommended wing loading range is approximately 0.66–0.82 lbs/sq ft. Flying at the lighter end gives you more margin for error during off-heading openings.

About us
Built in Slovenia Since 1992
Atair was founded by Stane Krajnc and his wife Magdalena, starting with paragliding reserves and moving into skydiving and BASE. More than three decades on, every canopy is still cut and sewn by our own team in Škofja Loka.
A Family Business
Stane passed the craft to his son Andrej, who started paragliding at nine and BASE jumping at eighteen, then studied engineering to design canopies. He has run Atair since taking over from his father. Most of our production team has been with us for decades.
Innovation That Reaches the Ground
We were the first to put SLAT technology on a BASE canopy back in 2007, and our MDV valve system pressurises the canopy faster on opening. Since then we've kept working on lighter fabrics and smaller packing volumes without giving up any performance, across more than 10,000 skydiving and BASE canopies built so far.
